Citation (parking ticket)

A citation, or parking ticket, is a notice that a vehicle broke a parking rule, stating the violation, the amount owed, and how to pay or contest it. A city citation is a government fine, while a citation on private property is usually a private charge whose enforceability depends on state or provincial law. Electronic citations typically carry photo evidence, a timestamp, and the amount owed as of the moment of issue.
