Parking payment apps
Lotably vs. HONK
HONK sells modular payment, permit, and validation tools and leaves enforcement to other systems. Lotably does enforcement, payments, and permits in one place.

The short answer
HONK is a payment platform: its help center says it is not an enforcement agency, and its permit module connects to enforcement systems from other vendors. Lotably includes enforcement, so the same system that sells daily parking by QR code also scans plates, issues citations, and collects them online. Every feature is on every plan, drivers pay no added fees, and you can sign up and set up the same day.
What HONK is
HONK offers a modular, cloud-based parking payment platform. Drivers pay by scanning a QR code, by text, or in the app, with a guest checkout. Operators choose from modules: Daily Parking Manager, Permit Manager, Validation Manager for merchant validations and guest parking, a Reservation Manager, and a Control Center for rates, reporting, and billing.
HONK was founded in 2013 and says it is accepted at more than 10,000 parking locations across North America. It sells to private operators, universities, cities, and commercial real estate, and lets operators choose whether HONK, a new account of their own, or their existing merchant account processes payments.
Where Lotably is different
Enforcement is part of the product
HONK’s help center says it is a payment platform, not an enforcement agency, and its permit module connects to enforcement systems such as AIMS, T2, and gtechna. Lotably officers scan plates from any phone and issue photo-evidence citations that drivers pay online, in the same system that sold the parking.
No added fees for drivers
HONK’s help center says some operators include a small service or convenience fee, usually per transaction. The City of St. Catharines, Ontario, for example, publishes a $0.45 fee per HONK transaction. By default, Lotably adds nothing to the posted price.
Every feature, not a menu of modules
HONK sells modules you choose from. Every Lotably plan includes enforcement, daily parking, monthly permits and billing, resident guest passes, towing and booting records, disputes, and monthly property reports.
Sign up yourself, today
HONK’s operator pages offer a demo or a guided tour, and its pricing and contract terms aren’t published. Lotably’s pricing is on the website, both plans are month to month, and you can sign up online and set up the same day.
Towing and booting when you need them
Towing and booting workflows aren’t described on HONK’s website. Lotably records tows and boots and puts your tow company one tap away, and both start switched off: ask for them at signup or later and Lotably turns them on. Lotably does not check whether booting or towing is allowed where you enforce: you are responsible for following the law, and you assume all risk of using them.

When HONK may be the better fit
HONK is a good fit if your enforcement is already handled and you want polished payment modules: merchant validations for retail tenants, advance reservations, and a choice of payment processor, including an existing merchant account. It also offers a driver app; Lotably doesn’t. Lotably fits better when you want enforcement, permits, guest passes, and payments in one system under one plan.
Switching, or running both
You can run Lotably next to an existing payment tool. Import your monthly roster by CSV, add paid sessions from another vendor by CSV or by hand so officers don’t ticket paying drivers, and move lots over to Lotably QR posters one at a time. When a vendor offers an API for session data, we build the connection at no extra cost (the vendor may charge for API access).
One system, top to bottom
What every Lotably plan includes
Month to month, no lock-in
No annual contract and no multi-year commitment on Free or Starter. Cancel anytime.
Sign up yourself, set up the same day
Create your account online, add your lots, and connect Stripe in one sitting. You’re live as soon as you sign up.
Every feature on every plan
Enforcement, daily and event parking, monthly applications and plans, billing, scheduled guest passes, merchant validations, dispute evidence, and reports. Some workflows need configuration or enabling. No add-on modules. Booting and towing start off until you ask; you are responsible for following the law where you enforce and assume all risk of using them.
Money lands in your own Stripe account
Payments are direct charges on your Stripe account. Lotably never holds your money or pays you out later.
No app fee for drivers
By default, drivers pay exactly the price you post. Our fee comes out of what you collect online, never from the driver. If you ask, we can add a flat service fee per parking session that goes to you.
Integrations built at no extra cost
Parking BOXX, ParkMobile, and manual/CSV sessions work today. When another vendor offers an API, we build the connection at no extra cost (the vendor may charge for API access).
Published pricing
Free is $0/month plus 12% of online payments. Starter is $99/month for up to 25 lots, plus 5%. Daily parking is at most 35¢ or 25¢ a session. No quote required.
Runs on the phone you have
Plate reading is built into the officer app, which runs in the browser. Daily parking needs a printed QR poster and nothing else.
Questions about Lotably and HONK
Is Lotably a good alternative to HONK?
Yes, especially if you also need enforcement. HONK describes itself as a payment platform, not an enforcement agency. Lotably sells daily parking by QR code and, in the same system, scans plates, issues and collects citations, and runs monthly permits, guest passes, towing, and booting.
Does Lotably charge drivers a service fee like some HONK locations?
No. By default, Lotably adds nothing to the driver’s price. HONK’s help center says some operators include a small service or convenience fee per transaction, and the City of St. Catharines publishes a $0.45 fee for HONK payments.
Do I have to buy modules on Lotably?
No. Every feature is on every Lotably plan: enforcement, daily parking, monthly permits and billing, resident guest passes, towing and booting records, disputes, and property reports. You choose a plan by how you pay, not by which features you need.
How fast can I switch to Lotably?
You can sign up online and set up the same day, then move lots over one at a time. Your account is live as soon as you sign up, so tickets work right away, and online payments as soon as Stripe is connected.
