Lotably vs. SpotHero
SpotHero sells your spaces to drivers through its reservation marketplace. Lotably runs the lot itself: enforcement, permits, guest passes, and payments that settle to your own Stripe account.
Facts about SpotHero checked October 2026. Sources at the bottom of the page.
The short answer
SpotHero is a demand channel: drivers reserve your spaces in its marketplace, and SpotHero collects the money and pays you later. Lotably is the system that runs the lot itself, with plate enforcement, monthly permits, guest passes, and daily QR parking, and every payment settles straight to your own Stripe account. If you can only pick one system to operate your lot, it’s Lotably; a SpotHero listing can sit on top as a sales channel.
What SpotHero is
Acquired by Uber in April 2026, per Uber’s quarterly SEC filing.
SpotHero is an online and mobile parking reservation marketplace. Drivers use its app and website to compare and prebook hourly, daily, event, airport, and monthly parking, and operators list inventory and set their own rates in SpotHero’s Control Panel. It also offers Scan2Pay, a QR-code drive-up payment option for ungated lots, and says it provides the signage and installation free to partners.
SpotHero launched in 2011 in Chicago and says it has parked more than 100 million cars across 400+ cities. Uber completed its acquisition of SpotHero in April 2026 and has said it plans to offer SpotHero-powered parking reservations inside the Uber app.
Where Lotably is different
Payments land in your Stripe, not in a remittance
Drivers who book on SpotHero pay SpotHero, which remits to sellers later; its page for independent sellers says payouts arrive by ACH about 7 to 10 days after the start of each month. With Lotably, every payment is a direct charge on your own Stripe account, so the money is yours from the moment the driver pays.
No service fee on your drivers
SpotHero’s terms say it may charge drivers a service fee on certain transactions, retained by SpotHero, and the amount isn’t published. By default, Lotably adds nothing on top of your posted price. Our fee comes out of what you collect online.
Enforcement is built in
SpotHero’s seller FAQ says it isn’t responsible for enforcing parking in listed spaces and can’t arrange towing. Lotably’s officer app scans plates from any phone, checks them against your permits and paid sessions, and issues photo-evidence citations drivers pay online in about 30 seconds, with warnings, booting, and towing records when you need them.
Permits, billing, and guest passes in one place
SpotHero sells monthly parking reservations, but its site doesn’t describe permit management. Lotably runs your monthly roster with a self-service portal and Stripe billing by card, ACH, or net-14 invoice, and residents can issue their own guest passes.
Your brand, not a marketplace listing
When drivers book through SpotHero, they book in SpotHero’s app or website. Lotably gives you a branded site at yourname.lotably.com, so your tickets, receipts, and payment pages carry your name.

When SpotHero may be the better fit
If your main goal is filling empty spaces with drivers who are already searching, especially around events, airports, and downtown garages, SpotHero’s marketplace reaches an audience Lotably doesn’t have. We have no consumer app or driver network. Drivers can book a daily pass for a later day on your lot’s pay page, but only drivers who already know your lot will find it there. Lotably is the system you run the lot on, so many operators will want a marketplace listing for demand and Lotably for enforcement, permits, and day-to-day collection.
Switching, or running both
You don’t have to choose. Keep listing on SpotHero for demand and run the lot on Lotably. Lotably doesn’t connect to SpotHero today, so reservations don’t flow in automatically. Where a reservation includes a plate, you can add it as a paid session by hand or by CSV import so officers don’t cite the driver, and if you have API access to your reservation data, we build the connection at no extra cost (the vendor may charge for API access). Your monthly roster imports by CSV.

Plate reading is built into the officer app, which runs in the browser. Daily parking needs a printed QR poster and nothing else.
Questions about Lotably and SpotHero
Is Lotably a SpotHero alternative?
For running the lot, yes. SpotHero is a reservation marketplace that sells your spaces to drivers; Lotably is the operating system for the lot itself, with plate enforcement, monthly permits and billing, guest passes, daily QR parking, and payments that settle to your own Stripe account. If you want marketplace demand too, you can keep a SpotHero listing alongside Lotably.
Does Lotably charge drivers a service fee like SpotHero?
No. By default, drivers pay exactly the price you post. Lotably’s fee is a percentage of what you collect online (12% on Free, 5% on Starter), and it comes out of your revenue, never from the driver. SpotHero’s terms say it may charge drivers a service fee on certain transactions.
How do I get paid with Lotably compared with SpotHero?
Every Lotably payment is a direct charge on your own Stripe account, and Stripe pays out to your bank on your Stripe schedule. On SpotHero, drivers pay SpotHero; its independent-seller page says it remits monthly by ACH, typically 7 to 10 days after the start of the month.
Can Lotably work with SpotHero?
There’s no direct connection today. You can import paid sessions by CSV or enter them by hand so officers see them when they scan a plate, and when you have API access to the reservation data, we build the connection at no extra cost (the vendor may charge for API access).
How fast can I start on Lotably?
The same day. Sign up online in five short screens, add your lots and rates, connect Stripe, and print your QR posters. Your account is live as soon as you sign up, and the Free plan needs no credit card.
