Pay-by-space

Pay-by-space is a paid parking model in which each stall has a number and the driver pays for that space rather than for a vehicle. Enforcement checks which space numbers are paid instead of reading plates or looking for a dashboard receipt. Pay-by-plate avoids its most common problem, a driver entering the wrong stall number.
