Escalation schedule (citation escalation)
An escalation schedule is a set of disclosed, time-based increases to a citation’s amount, so an unpaid citation grows after defined windows such as 15 and 30 days. Recording the schedule on each citation when it is issued keeps the amount owed at any later date computable, even if the operator changes its fines afterward. State and local rules can limit how much and how fast a private charge may grow.
